La Mega Bell Course

The Mega Bell Course Events

The Mega Bell Course is a race with a time given over 3 different courses for the ‘S’ format (the easier version: red run level, min. age 8) and five different courses for the ‘XL’ format (the more difficult version: black run level, min. age 12).

The times for the different courses are added together over the event (the time to get from one course to the next does not count). The aim is to get the fastest total time! To spice things up, seconds may be added on or taken off on some of the courses 🤫

There is no mass start: you start when you want (from 9am) and where you want! Plagne Centre, Aime 2000, Plagne Villages, Plagne Soleil, Belle Plagne, Plagne 1800, Plagne Bellecôte, Montchavin – Les Coches, Montalbert or Champagny-en-Vanoise, depending on where you are staying (or which car park you have parked in if you are in La Plagne just for the day).

We do recommend that you get going by 9.30am at the latest for both formats, S and XL, if you want to be sure of finishing before the time limit of 3pm on the dot!

The course for the ‘S’ format only

The Mega Warrior

🏁 What is it? An obstacle course (with and without skis) where you will have to aim at the bullseye, work your biceps and leap into the void (or play at G.I. Joe by crawling under a net if stunts are really not your thing – but if a child of 8 can do it, you can too, don’t you think?). In short, you must prove that you are a v-e-e-r-r-y versatile rider!

😎 How do we nail it? A lucky charm might help you to save a few seconds here and there (especially there)

📍 Where is it? At Le Fornelet, at the top of Montalbert gondola (in the Montalbert sector)

📅 When can we practise? The ‘Mega Warrior’ course will be open to all on Friday, 18 April 2025, 10am to 3pm (some muscle toning at home might help as well)

The 2 courses for both the ‘S’ and ‘XL’ formats

To do in any order depending on your chosen starting point and your strategy (except for ‘Le Grand Bain’ which is the last course for everyone, whichever format they choose!).

Tout là-haut

🏁 What is it? A descent on Europe’s longest Funslope! On the programme: whoops, raised bends, small jumps… In short, nothing too complicated (apart from the run being 1750 metres long!).

😎 How do we nail it? Your starting point will be a matter of chance but with a bit of luck, you will start from ‘right up there’ (not from ‘right down there’...)

📍 Where is it? Head to Plagne Bellecôte and take the Arpette chairlift

📅 When can we practise? The ‘Tout là-haut’ course will be open to all on Thursday, 17 April 2025, 10am to 3pm, if you want to give your thigh muscles a workout before the big day.

Le Grand Bain

🏁 What is it? A giant slalom… somewhat "crowded" (two different courses: 25 gates for the S format; 45 gates for the XL format), and a waterslide at the finish!

😎 How do we nail it? Having Léon Marchand as a friend might help…

📍 Where is it? On the Jean-Luc Crétier slalom field (in Plagne Centre)

📅 When can we practise? No training session for this one: you have to rely on your talent! Le Grand Bain is the only ‘surprise’ course of the Mega Bell Course 😉 but, if you don’t mind spoilers, you can get a preview of it from Bécoin chairlift…

💡 Good to know: Le Grand Bain will be the last course for everyone, just before crossing the finish line at the bottom of the slopes in Plagne Centre!

The 3 courses specific to the XL format

To do in any order depending on your chosen starting point and your strategy.

C’est d’la balle

🏁 What is it? Imagine a combination of a boarder cross (with all the usual whoops and banked turns) and a ball pool. Voilà!

Here we go!

🏁 What is it? A giant slalom. Which might be more giant than planned if you get an unlucky roll of the dice…

C’est boarder…

🏁 What is it? A boarder(cross) with a twist. Especially at the start. Let’s just say that getting your skis on might (will) take some time.

Are you a player? Well, let’s play… 😉

Are you feeling lucky? We are proposing two optional additional spots where you can win... or lose... precious seconds! It’s up to you.
